| Here's elizabeth - she worked on the cluster with Jodie, and was in the structure of programming languages with us. Hey, remember the time she sent an e-mail to anyone with the letter e in their names while testing project 1? Of course you don't if you didn't take the class! | |
| Here's a more typical picture of elizabeth with her pal, Josh. Josh liked sitting behind elizabeth and poking her. Why? Well...elizabeth makes lots of noise and never seems to get used to or tired of the whole poking thing, so it was laughs all around. Plus the structure of programming languages brought out the child in all of us (at least in all of the graduating seniors who didn't care). | |
|
Here's Dave. I had him in a whole bunch of classes. I've never seen him
do anything but sleep, never contribute anything to the class, and
get good grades. Oh yeah, he liked annoying Jodie, but who doesn't? In this picture, he's pretending to be fearsome - probably from all that fencing training he has. |
|
| There's Corey, who I can beat in Quake any day (HA! Ya hear that Corey??!) Kutsal, who never attends classes, takes 20 some credit hours every semester, and knows the material better than the teachers, and Tim who is very giggly. | |
|
There's Tim again, being giggly, and Scott behind him. Scott is great. I first
encountered him my freshman year. Back then he was an english major
who graduated and became a janitor for GVSU. I met him in the MST3K
movie marathon my roomate and I put on. Fast forward to 2001, and here he is again, a senior in the computer science department - he still likes Mystery Science Theater 3000. |
|
| That's the evil Ryan in the back ("I'm not evil!"), and Brad! The permanent Quake player of GVSU. Then there's another Dave and you can see part of the engineer John Dodge playing with his palm pilot (a favorite activity for many in Data Comm). | |
|
Here's nikolei. Nice guy, but he keeps failing or dropping out classes.
Its too bad, since he's a great partner in immaturity when it comes to
boring classes. I'll miss him *sniff* At least he's happy in this picture. |
|
| This is the EOS lab. It is where you work and play as an upper-level computer science student. Endless programming assignments for work and Quake II for play. Usually the lab is blessedly free of information systems majors as they usually prefer the Windows labs like the weenies they are. | |
|
Here is the linux cluster under construction - complete with Jodie! It
consists of: a rack, 2 (now 3) shelves, a KVM switch (to use only 1 monitor,
etc. for umpteen computers), an ethernet switch, a master node, and
several slave nodes. Exciting, eh? As usual, they stuck the computer scientists in the squalor of a windowless, boring, white cinderblock room. Oh well, we don't like natural light anyway. |
